The 90th episode of the NHK Asadora drama "Omusubi " starring Kanna Hashimoto Hashimoto (General TV, Monday to Saturday 8:00 am and others) was broadcast on February 7th. In the episode, Yui's (Hashimoto) husband Shoya (Sano Hayato) decides to become a barber, attracting the attention of viewers.
At the end of the 90th episode, Yui, who has just joined the NST, is reading a medical book at home and saying, "It's so much fun to try new things." Shoya then makes up his mind and says, "I want to try something new too," and, "A job as a barber."
Shoya expressed his admiration for his father-in-law, Masato (Kitamura Yukiya), saying, "My father-in-law is amazing. He doesn't just cut his customers' hair, he makes them feel refreshed as well. I thought to myself, I want to be like that."
However, Shoya is almost 30 and has a daughter, Hana (played by Miyazaki Ririsa), so he hesitates, saying, "I don't think it's a good idea to change jobs just because it's cool..." However, Yui encourages Shoya, saying, "That's fine! If you want to try it, then go ahead and do it. Besides, that's what we've always done."
Shoya dreamed of becoming a major leaguer, and studied baseball in Fukuoka from Tochigi during high school. After that, he joined the baseball team of the prestigious amateur baseball team "Hoshikawa Denki" and aimed to go professional. However, he gave up baseball after injuring his shoulder and lived a salaryman life.
While helping out at Masato's shop, Hair Salon Yoneda, Shoya discovers a new goal in becoming a barber, and comments on social media have included, "It's heartwarming," "I guess he wanted to be a barber like his father-in-law after all," "I want to support Shoya's new dream," "Good luck Shoya, you're still young," and "The sparkle he had when he was playing baseball is returning to Shoya's eyes."
