It has been revealed that popular YouTuber and actor Karuma will play Kuon, a key character in the story of " No.1 Sentai Gozyuger " (TV Asahi, 9:30 a.m.), which is a 50th anniversary production of the Super Sentai series and will begin airing on February 16th.
Karuma was born on August 26, 1996, and is 28 years old. He hails from Fukuoka Prefecture and is affiliated with the talent agency Avex Clan. At the age of 16, he moved to Tokyo from Fukuoka to become an actor, but after five years of not making any headway, he started posting on YouTube. His channel had over one million subscribers in a year, and he became popular as a YouTuber before returning to acting, and last year he made headlines for appearing on "Densetsu no Atama Sho" (TV Asahi).
At the production announcement press conference held in Tokyo, Karuma was introduced as "the mysterious man Kuon." He said, "This is unprecedented. I was introduced as a man shrouded in mystery, but he's so mysterious that I can't say any more (laughs)," drawing laughter from the audience.
He cited "Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger" (2001-02), "Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger" (2002-03), and " Bakuryu Sentai Abaranger " (2003-04) as some of his most memorable Super Sentai , and revealed, "Ever since I got this job, I always listen to Hurricaneger songs when I go to the set!"
" No.1 Sentai Gozyuger" is a story about five heroes based on beasts such as animals and dinosaurs, who battle against the "Number One Monster" who has reached the top in all fields, rivals who wield the power of all the previous Reds, and even other Gojugers, in search of the "Sentai Ring," a ring that is said to grant any wish.
