Model and actor Koki, appeared with Masahiro Motoki and Masatoshi Nakamura at the opening ceremony for the film "Touch" (directed by Baltasar Kormákur) held in Tokyo on January 25th. Regarding Motoki, who played the role of father and son in the film, Koki, expressed his gratitude, saying, "I felt truly honored. I was happy to be able to see the acting of someone I respect so much up close."
Motoki, who played Takahashi, the father of Miko, played by Koki, revealed his friendship with Koki, saying, "Koki and I actually have a mutual acquaintance, and I've known her since we were children at parties like the New Year's parties that she hosted." He added, "In that sense, I really was watching over her with the same dazzling gaze as if she were my own child," saying that on the set, he was completely focused on the role from a parent's perspective.
Furthermore, Motoki spoke about the circumstances of the first reading that took place in London at the time, saying, "We were told about it suddenly, but I was surprised to see that Koki had already memorized all of her lines." He also revealed a stoic side of Koki, saying, "I often hear rumors in the industry that her father memorizes his lines perfectly from the reading, so I guess that's just dad style (laughs)."
Koki, said with a smile about the film's release in Japan, "This film is like a treasure to me, and I have learned so much from it. I'm happy that it can finally be released to everyone."
The film is based on the bestselling novel "Snerting" by Olaf Olafsson, which was released in Iceland in 2020. The story is a grand love story that transcends time and the ocean, in which the protagonist Christopher leaves his hometown of Iceland and travels to London and Japan in search of his beloved Miko (Koki,) who suddenly disappeared 50 years ago.
