The drama series " Shiawase na Kekkon " (TV Asahi, Thursdays at 9 PM) stars actor Sadao Abe . Episode 6, which aired on August 21, ended with a shocking twist: his uncle, Kou (played by Takashi Okabe), turns himself in. There are only three episodes left in the story. We spoke to General Producer Nakagawa Shinko, who is in charge of the series, about the highlights of the final part and her thoughts on the much talked about title.
The drama is an original story by screenwriter Shizuka Oishi. Bachelor Harada Kotaro (Abe) is attracted to the mysterious high school art teacher Suzuki Nerula (Takako Matsu) and marries her unexpectedly, but Nerula turns out to be a suspect in the death of her ex-fiancé, Nuse Yuto (Reo Tamaoki). While it is a family drama, it is billed as a "marriage suspense" that questions the love between husband and wife.
In the sixth episode, which aired on the 21st, Fuse's uncle confesses to murdering him. The mystery of the story deepens even further. "Episode 6 is billed as the second part, but from here on, the story develops rapidly each time. There are nine episodes in total, but the eighth episode before the final one is packed with elements of a typical drama finale, and in episode 9 we are currently working on depicting what happens 'beyond' the final episode. We have spoken with Oishi-san and are taking on a new challenge, so we hope you will look forward to the end," he said.
Viewers are currently speculating, but the title of the show is attracting a lot of attention. Some say that the title, written in hiragana as "Shiawase na Kekkon," could be a hint at a "marriage where death is at a close range."
"Regarding the title, I didn't want to explain everything there. I thought 'Happy Marriage' was better than ' Shiawase na Kekkon.' Leaving some space stimulates the imagination, doesn't it? So I'm glad people are imagining all sorts of things."
At the press conference, Oishi said that the title he originally came up with was "A Wife Called Nella," but revealed, "Oishi now says he's glad it's now called ' A Shiawase na Kekkon' (laughs)."
