The sixth episode of the TBS Sunday Theatre drama " The 19th medical record " (Sundays at 9pm), starring Jun Matsumoto , will be broadcast on August 24th.
In the previous episode, Chayazaka (First Summer Uika), a cardiovascular surgeon, was struggling with whether to place her mother Ai (Asaka Mayumi), who has difficulty living independently, in a nursing home or whether she should care for her. In a conversation with Tokushige (Matsumoto), she revealed her relationship with her mother, saying, "We just don't get along," but she was trying to take on her mother's situation.
Tokushige told Chayazaka, "You are a very kind person, to feel this much pain for someone." Chayazaka's eyes turned red as he replied, "I can't bring myself to hate you."
Tokushige advises Chayazaka, "There are things that you will see if you separate for a while. If you want to get closer again, you can." Chayazaka makes up her mind and tells Ai, "I can't live with you. I'm sorry, I'm such a terrible girl."
In episode 6... After receiving a consultation from an internal medicine doctor, the general medicine department is tasked with visiting a patient who wishes to receive home care. Tokushige entrusts the case to Takino ( Fuka Koshiba). This is Takino's first experience with end-of-life care.
The patient is Handa Tatsu (Ishibashi Renji), who has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Tatsu has quietly accepted the end of his life and tells Takino that he wants to die in style.
Meanwhile, Takino learns about the complicated feelings of Tatsu's second son, Ryuji (Konno Hiroki), who lives with him, and his eldest son, Ryuichiro (Kondo Koen), who lives far away. Faced with the patient's wishes and the conflict between the family, Takino wonders what he can do as a doctor.
Meanwhile, a visitor arrives in the director's office at Uotora General Hospital. It's Akaike (Tanaka Min), Tokushige's former teacher, who has come from the island without Tokushige's knowledge...
Based on the manga "The 19th medical record: Akira Tokushige's Medical Interview" (Core Mix) by Katsuhito Fujiya, the story depicts a general practitioner who lends a helping hand to patients' lifestyles. The screenplay is by Aya Tsubota.
