A special video featuring the collaboration between the movie "Under Ninja" (directed by Yuichi Fukuda, released on January 24th), based on the manga by Kengo Hanazawa, and the theme song "doppelganger" by the hip-hop unit "Creepy Nuts," was released on YouTube on January 21st. The theme song has been a hot topic, with people saying it's "addictive" due to its addictive tempo and lyrics that evoke the world of the movie, and the special video is made using the theme song and plenty of unreleased scenes from the movie.
The video begins with the appearance of Kumogakure Kuro (Kento Yamazaki), who is wearing Marishiten, a hoodie that turns transparent when switched on, for the first time, and then a series of unique characters are shown along with addictive bass music. The video shows ninja action using cutting-edge swords, tasers, shuriken shotguns, and other weapons incorporating the latest technology, as well as the dynamic movements of the characters. At the end of the video, seven mysterious stone statues and something resembling a mechanical doll appear.
"Under Ninja" is a manga by Hanazawa, who is known for "I Am a Hero" and other works, and has been serialized in "Young Magazine" (Kodansha) since July 2018. The story is set in a world where ninjas, who are said to have disappeared after the war, are still active in the present day, and follows the story of a low-ranking ninja, Kuro Kumogakure, who lives a life almost like a NEET, as he throws himself into an important "ninja mission". It has also been broadcast as a TV anime.
In the film, Yamazaki plays the main character Kuro and Hamabe Minami plays the heroine Noguchi Ayaka, and the script was written by director Fukuda, known for "Gintama" and "Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku."
