New stills from the film "Beethoven Fabrication" (directed by Seki Kazuaki, set to premiere on September 12th), written by comedian Bakarhythm and starring actor Yuki Yamada, were released on August 15th. The scenes feature Beethoven, a "scruffy, lovable old man" played by Furuta Arata, and the "strong" characters around him.
This live-action film is based on Shiho Kagehara's historical non-fiction book "Beethoven Fabrication: A Famous Producer Lies" (published by Kawade Bunko). The film focuses on the scandal surrounding the alteration of Beethoven's phrasebook by Schindler, who served as Beethoven's secretary and wrote his posthumous biography.
Four cuts have been released. In the scene of Schindler (Yamada) and Beethoven (Furuta)'s "fateful" encounter, original author Kagehara praised the scene, saying, "I was surprised at the high resolution of Bakarhythm's script!" As Schindler shakes hands, Beethoven, with messy hair and a dusty coat, kindly hands Schindler a phrasebook, just as in Bakarhythm's original monologue, "(Beethoven's hand) was a little slippery." It's a scene that makes it clear how disappointed Schindler would be if his idol showed up dressed like that.
There is also a photo of Beethoven with a fiery expression, brandishing an egg from the table. In fact, it is said that when Beethoven got angry, he would throw food or anything else he could find. Also released are shots of his nephew Karl (Maeda Oshiro), who is essential to any discussion of Beethoven, and scenes of Beethoven's other brother Johann (Ozawa Yukiyoshi) and his old friend Breuning (Namase Katsuhisa) helping Beethoven, who is bedridden with illness, step by step to write his will.
When Beethoven passed away at the age of 56, nearly 20,000 people, including those close to him, gathered at his funeral to see him off in a grand manner. He may not have been a "perfect genius," but he may have had a charm that attracted people beyond his music.
