It has been announced that the first episode of the TV anime "SAKAMOTO DAYS," based on the popular manga by Suzuki Yuto, currently serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha), will be broadcast and streamed worldwide at 11:00 pm on January 11, 2025. It will be broadcast on TV Tokyo and other networks, and streamed worldwide on Netflix. Additional cast members have also been announced, including Yasumoto Hiroki as Leopard, Otsuka Yoshitada as Takamura, and Daisuke Namikawa as Slur.
Yasumoto plays the tough-looking, blunt-spoken Leopard, a member of ORDER, a special task force directly under the Japan Assassin's League (Satsuren). He commented, "I like playing powerful characters, so I'm very happy to be playing Leopard. I will do my best to portray him in a snappy way, as he is not just a violent guy, but also has a cute and kind side to him. I also want to make sure to take good care of Takamura (?), who has been on my mind since the one-off 'Mukuro-ku' (laughs)."
Otsuka, who plays Takamura, a member of ORDER who looks like an old man but possesses overwhelming strength, said, "I've been doing this job for a long time, but this is the first time. I just mutter and whisper, so no one knows what I'm saying, even I don't understand what I'm saying. It was very difficult, but it was a good learning experience! I'm actually also in charge of the narration. I helped out with a bit of a hard-boiled style. Look forward to it."
Namikawa, who plays the role of the mysterious × (Slar), who is nicknamed "Slar" because he leaves an X mark at the scene of his murders, commented, "When Slar first appears, he is very mysterious. He gives off an aura of being scary, evil, and suspicious. On the other hand, he also has scenes where he smiles. I hope to be able to show depth to him from time to time in my performance. He is a difficult character to describe because there are developments to come, but I hope that you will enjoy the work and delve deeper into the character of Slar. I will do my best to convey the charm of the character to as many people as possible! Also, he is handsome."
It was also revealed that the band "Conton Candy" will be in charge of the ending theme "Futsuu". This will be the band's first anime tie-up. The second main PV was released on YouTube, showcasing the song.
Conton Candy commented, "This is our first anime tie-up, so we are honored. When we heard about it, we were really happy and surprised, but along with that feeling, we were also fired up, like, 'Okay! Let's do it!!' and I think that allowed us to work hard on the production. You might be wondering why the title is 'Futsuu', but the lyrics express Aoi's feelings towards Sakamoto. It's full of warm words, so I hope you will listen to the song and pay attention to the lyrics. Watch 'SAKAMOTO DAYS' a lot, listen to 'Futsuu' a lot, and let's make the best anime!!"
