The final episode of the TV drama "The Travel Nurse" (TV Asahi, Thursdays 9pm), starring actor Masaki Okada, will be broadcast as an extended special on December 19th.
Hospital director Taku Yakushimaru (Ikusaburo Yamazaki) has been blaming nurse Megumi Yagi (Mayumi Wakamura) for past medical errors in order to pursue his ambition of reforming Japan's medical system with his own hands in the future.
Just as Yakushimaru leaves behind Nasuda Ayumu (Okada Masaki), who she values, and fires all the other nurses, including Kuki Shizuka (Kiichi Nakai), Nishitokyo General Hospital is attacked by ransomware. The medical system goes down, and patients' electronic medical records become inaccessible.
Amidst chaos within the hospital, Ayumi struggles to protect the hearts and lives of her patients. Nearby, a fired nurse begins to treat outpatients who can no longer receive treatment.
Meanwhile, Megumi, who was hospitalized with severe pancreatic cancer, suddenly takes a turn for the worse. Ayumu tries to entrust the operation to Yakushimaru, who was Megumi's original preference, but Yakushimaru refuses. What path will Ayumu and Shizuka, who have now fallen out of touch, ultimately choose?
