The final episode (episode 48) of the NHK historical drama "Dear Radiance (Hikaru Kimi e)" (General TV, Sunday 8pm and others), starring Yuriko Yoshitaka, aired on December 15th, depicting the last moments of Michinaga (played by Tasuku Emoto). As in historical fact, Yukinari (played by Daichi Watanabe) also passed away on the same day, but some viewers expressed surprise.
In the final episode, Mahiro (Yoshitaka) is questioned by Rinko (Kuroki Haru) about her relationship with Michinaga (Tasuku Emoto), and she reveals everything that has happened between the two of them so far.
After learning everything, Noriko is shocked and entrusts a certain wish to Mahiro.
Later, Mahiro meets a strange girl who is interested in "The Tale of Genji" and hears her unexpected opinion. As time passes, Michinaga, who supported the country with him, and his beloved family members pass away, realizes that his own death is near and makes his final decision.
Mahiro hears the news that Michinaga is in critical condition...
With permission from Noriko, Mahiro tells Michinaga stories, extending his life by one day at a time, but eventually Michinaga passes away. And then Yukinari. The remaining Kinto (Keita Machida) and Nariyoshi (Satoshi Kanada) mourn him, saying, "Yukinari must have been deeply in love with Michinaga, to have passed away on the same day as Michinaga," and "He really did a great job for Michinaga," and compose a poem.
Viewers who were unaware of the historical fact that Michinaga and Yukinari died on the same day expressed surprise, saying, "Yukinari, did it happen on the same day as Michinaga?", "Yukinari really died on the same day as Michinaga...", and "Yukinari and Michinaga died on the same day? Such dramatic things happen." Furthermore, one commenter wrote, "Yukinari also died on the same day that Michinaga died. It's great that they depicted this properly in the Taiga drama."
