Additional cast announced for new anime "Cat's Eye"

It has been announced that Yoko Hikasa and Katsuyuki Konishi will be appearing as voice actors in the all-new anime adaptation of Hojo Tsukasa's popular manga "Cat's Eye," which was popular mainly in the 1980s. Hikasa will play Asatani Mitsuko, an intelligent and cool female detective who is a colleague of detective Utsumi Toshio and is pursuing the phantom thief Cat's Eye, while Konishi will play Kamiya Masato, a freelance writer who will be appearing in the anime for the first time.

Hikasa commented, "I watched 'Cat's Eye' when I was little. I never thought the day would come when I would be involved in it! When I was a child, I thought of it as a sexy, mature anime, but when you read it in modern times, it's a romantic comedy, and it depicts some heartwarming, lovable human relationships. I think it's a work that can be enjoyed by both adults and children. There's the scheming Asatani who corners Cat, and the Asatani who is full of humanity. Both of their faces are charming, so I hope you'll look forward to it!"

Kamiya Masato, played by Konishi, is said to be the model for Ryo Saeba, the protagonist of Hojo's masterpiece "City Hunter." Konishi said, "Hello everyone. I'm Konishi, and I will be voicing the role of Kamiya Masato. It feels like a dream come true that I'll be appearing in "Cat's Eye," a show I watched as a child. Back then, I'd hold a recorder close to the TV and record the opening and closing sequences on tape to listen to. I can't wait to see what kind of "Cat's Eye" this time will be! Thank you very much!"

The series is a popular manga that was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) from 1981 to 1984. The story revolves around three beautiful sisters, Hitomi, Rui, and Ai, who run the Cat's Eye cafe, coolly running through the night as phantom thieves, causing a stir in society. The story is filled with brilliant action and a thrilling romance with a detective.

An anime TV series was also broadcast from 1983 to 1985, and for the first time in nearly 40 years, it will be adapted into an anime series again. In the new anime, voice actresses Mikako Komatsu will play Hitomi Kisugi, the second of the three beautiful sisters, Ami Koshimizu will play Rei Kisugi, the eldest, and Yumiri Hanamori will play Ai Kisugi, the third. Takuya Sato will play detective Toshio Utsumi. Ado will cover the theme song "CAT'S EYE" sung by Anri. It will be available exclusively on Disney+ from September.
