Akiko Nishina will appear on "Tetsuko's Room" broadcast on August 22nd

72-year-old actress Akiko Nishina will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which will be broadcast at 1:00 p.m. on August 22nd.

She has overcome four cancers since being hospitalized and undergoing surgery for cervical cancer 34 years ago. Because it has been more than 10 years since her last surgery, she often forgets to have checkups, but she never misses them. When she was diagnosed with cancer for the fourth time, she thought, "God, stop messing around," but her two children accepted it without taking it too seriously, which helped her stay positive.

The baby boy born to her daughter is now 10 years old. He is very attached to Nishina, and sometimes sleeps in the same bed when he comes to visit. Because the baby was not breathing when he was born, Nishina accompanied him in place of his daughter and he was rushed to a hospital that can treat newborns. Having experienced this, Nishina says he is very happy that the baby is growing up healthy.
