"Sgt. Frog. Frog" is a gag manga depicting the daily life of Keroro, an alien based on a frog who aims to invade Earth, as he spends time at the home of a young Earth boy named Fuyuki. The one-shot "Sgt. Frog" was published in "Bessatsu Newtype" (KADOKAWA) in 1998, and the serialization began in "Monthly Shonen Ace" (also KADOKAWA) in 1999. The TV anime aired from April 2004 to March 2011 for about seven years, and the series has been adapted into a wide range of media, including five theatrical anime films.
The following are comments from the cast members.
◇ Takayuki Yamada(as Yoshihiko)
Ten years have passed since we defeated the Demon King. We made a vow: that we would one day return as a theatrical film. But that's not it! When I said "return," I didn't mean "returning" to a frog! Why should I go on an adventure for some frog?! I'm busy with big breasts and having an affair! Hey frog! I'm going back to the village! Meleb, use the Teleport spell!
◇Haruka Kinami (as Murasaki)
I never thought the day would come when the four of us could get together again, so I was truly happy to see everyone again. I was surprised that everyone's characters were exactly the same, and that they were all still living their lives unchanged, even though 10 years had passed. I feel honored to have been a part of this work as an anime and as one of Sgt. Frog's friends. I hope this work reaches many people, both those who were children back then and those who are children now.
◇ Tsuyoshi Muro Muro (as Mereb)
In any case, I participated with the hope that it would be okay to have a slightly different timeline where our worlds happen to intersect, without intruding on the world of "Sgt. Frog." Standing in that world again with the Yoshihiko Party after so long, I was surprised by the strange atmosphere and how perfectly our breathing matched, and I was able to confirm that those days and times still exist. Thank you for letting me participate. Yes.
◇Jiro Sato (as Buddha)
It is a great honor to be able to visit even a small part of the world of Sgt. Frog. I'm a laid-back Buddha who is always causing exasperation among Yoshihiko and his group, but I hope Sgt. Frog won't be astonished by me. I hope everyone will enjoy the new world of Sgt. Frog to the fullest at the theater.
◇Shin Takuma (as Danjo)
I've been invited to work with Director Fukuda on several projects since Yoshihiko, and during recording, I was able to see Takayuki Yamada, Haruka Kinami, Tsuyoshi Muro Muro, Jiro Sato, and Director Fukuda himself. It was truly wonderful to see my friends again after so long. It had been a while, but I was just like my usual self, with a low voice... like, "What's up?" Darujo. He hasn't changed. Enjoy the main story, Brave Yoshihiko, Hentai Kamen, Gintama, and Sgt. Frog , with four times the silliness!
◇Ryohei Suzuki (as HK)
It was an incredible joy for me to be able to play Hentai Kamen again after 10 years. And to think I got to fight alongside Yoshihiko and his gang! It had been a long time since I transformed, a long time since I roared, a long time since I said "oinari-san." As soon as recording began, I knew it, this is it, this is the feeling I remembered, and those days of fighting for justice came flooding back to me. I am truly grateful to Sgt. Frog for reminding me of that passionate spirit of justice.
◇ Shun Oguri(as Gintoki Sakata)
But I was told, "Go out there, do it, everyone's gathered," so I reluctantly did it. Therefore, I have no emotional attachment to it. I'm just sorry for intruding. I'm sure it'll be a hit, so please give me more money. But thank you, Sgt. Frog
◇ Masaki Suda(as Shinpachi Shimura)
That! Into the world of Sgt. Frog! Pekopon? An alien? I was looking forward to it, wondering what role Fukuda-san would play! But then, Gintama? Huh? ...While I was happy to be Shinpachi again, I had to listen to Sakaguchi-san's voice again, practice and practice my lines, and then, off to the world of Sgt. Frog! Whyy
◇ Kanna Hashimoto(as Kagura)
I never thought the day would come when I would appear in "Sgt. Frog" again as Kagura, and only as a voice actor. When Director Fukuda offered me this role, I was surprised, thinking, "Kagura in Keroro?" But once the recording started, I found the unusual combination very interesting, and I felt it was a very typical Fukuda production. I enjoyed being able to participate in the world of "Sgt. Frog" even just a little, and I hope that both "Sgt. Frog" fans and "Gintama" fans will enjoy it.
◇Kankuro Nakamura (as Isao Kondo)
When I was offered the role in "Sgt. Frog" and read the script, I saw a cast of familiar faces. I had to double-check several times, "Is this really ' Sgt. Frog'?" Recording as Isao Kondo again after so long brought back memories of the original filming, making it a nostalgic and enjoyable recording session. This is a festive film that I hope everyone who loves "Sgt. Frog," "Gintama," and Director Fukuda's works will enjoy, so please come and see it in theaters!
◇Yuya Yagira (as Toshiro Hijikata)
When I was first approached about this project, I was honestly surprised to hear that Director Fukuda would be directing an animated film rather than a live-action one. Then, when I learned it was for "Sgt. Frog," a series loved by a wide range of generations, I got the impression that Director Fukuda would once again create a fun and exciting film. Through this film, I believe that not only will fans who have supported "Sgt. Frog" up until now be able to enjoy it, but many new people will also discover the charm of "Keroro." Please enjoy it in theaters!
◇ Ryo Yoshizawa(as Sougo Okita)
It's been quite a while since I played Okita, so I was surprised at how different my voice is now compared to back then. It took me a little while to remember how I sounded back then, but I really enjoyed the recording process. There are lots of amazing characters in the film, so please be sure to check it out in theaters!
