The exhibition "Gintama 20th Anniversary Exhibition - Gathering of Hatachi" commemorating the 20th anniversary ("Hatachi") of the serialization of Hideaki Sorachi's popular manga "Gintama" will be held from December 14th to January 17th, 2025 at Exhibition Hall A on the 4th floor of Sunshine City World Import Mart Building (Toshima-ku, Tokyo). A preview was held on December 13th prior to the opening, and the exhibits were unveiled. The results of several fan votes, including the "All-Character Popularity Poll," are reflected throughout the exhibition, and Sorachi's handwritten manuscripts, including original drawings of the top 50 characters from the "All-Character Popularity Poll," will be on display. The 1st to 20th place in the character popularity poll have already been announced, but the 21st to 50th place will be announced at the exhibition.
The main theme of the "Gintama Exhibition" is "An exhibition created together with all the fans who support Gintama," and around 250 handwritten manuscripts by Sorachi will be on display. The "Most moving XX chapter," "Funniest chapter XX," and "Best tsukkomi," all chosen in the fan voting project "Make and Play Gintama," will also be on display at the venue. You can also enjoy a photo spot featuring "Fluffy Sadaharu," which was chosen as the number one photo spot in the "Photo Spot You Want to See" poll. Sadaharu is so fluffy you'll want to touch him, and you can take a photo with him biting into your head.
The exhibition will feature the results of the character popularity poll and the original drawings of each character, with a luxurious exclusive area set up for the protagonist Gintoki Sakata, who came in first, with many original drawings lined up. There will also be an area for the spin-off "3-nen Z-gumi Ginpachi-sensei," which will be broadcast as a TV anime starting in October 2025.
Following the Tokyo venue, the exhibition will be held at the Namba Parks Museum (Naniwa-ku, Osaka City) in Osaka from March 1 to 30, 2025. It will travel to Okayama, Fukuoka, Aichi and other places.
"Gintama" is an action drama set in a fictional Edo. In a world ruled by aliens called Amanto, the sweet-toothed and reckless samurai Sakata Gintoki solves various cases brought to Yorozuya with his friends Shinpachi and Kagura. The series began serialization in December 2003 in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha). It was also talked about that the final episode was not reached in "Weekly Shonen Jump" and "Jump GIGA" (Shueisha). After that, "The Other Side of the Final Episode (Continuation)" was distributed on the "Gintama Official App". The final lesson, "Lesson 704: No Good People with Natural Curls," was distributed on June 20, 2019, and the third time was a charm to finally conclude the series. The comics have sold over 73 million copies worldwide.
