It has been revealed that comedian Eiko Kano will be providing commentary for the Japanese trailer for "Minecraft: The Movie" (to be released during Golden Week in 2025, directed by Jared Hess), a Hollywood film adaptation of the popular game "Minecraft."
Kano's game commentary on his YouTube channel is very popular, and he also loves Minecraft, but when he received the offer, he commented, "There are so many streamers and celebrities who love Minecraft, so to be honest I wondered if I was the right person for the role. However, just like everyone else, my love for Minecraft remains the same, so I really had a lot of fun doing it."
Regarding the trailer, he said, "I thought that the main characters would be young boys going on an adventure in the world of Minecraft, but it turns out that the main character is an old man. I also loved games as a kid and played them all the time, and I thought that I would stop playing games when I became an adult, but it turns out I've been playing more than I did when I was a kid (laughs). It was an incredible dream!"
When the movie is completed, she said, "Of course I'd like to see it!" and added, "I think it will be a film that will really get your heart racing. Also, although they haven't been released yet, I'm looking forward to sequels 2, 3, and 4!"
Minecraft was created in 2009 and officially released in 2011. It is a game in which you can collect 3D blocks in a virtual space called a world, move around as you like, and enjoy building and adventure as you like. In 2014, it was recognized by the Guinness World Records as the "world's best-selling indie game," and in 2023, global sales exceeded 300 million copies.
