It has been announced that the third chapter of Yamato Forever REBEL 3199, the latest installment in the remake series of the popular anime Space Battleship Yamato, titled Gunjo no Asteroid, will be released on April 11, 2025. A teaser trailer featuring Sasha/Sanada Mio was also released.
A teaser visual drawn by Asamiya Kia, who is in charge of the image drawings for the film, was also released. A movie ticket card for the third chapter was also released, which comes with a bonus poster designed with the teaser visual.
Writer Fukui Harutoshi will serve as general director of Yamato Forever REBEL 3199, and will also be in charge of series composition and scriptwriting. Fukui was in charge of series composition and scriptwriting for the remake series Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Warriors of Love and Space Battleship Yamato 2205: A New Voyage, and will also be general director of the latest installment. The film will be directed by Yamato Naomi. There are seven chapters in total, with the second chapter being released on November 22nd.
The first "Space Battleship Yamato" TV anime was broadcast in 1974, and other films have since been produced, including "Space Battleship Yamato 2," "Space Battleship Yamato: Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato," and "Space Battleship Yamato: Resurrection." A remake of the first film, "Space Battleship Yamato 2199," was screened in theaters from 2012 to 2014, and "2202," a sequel to "2199," was screened in theaters and broadcast on TV from 2017 to 2019. "2205," the last of the two chapters, was screened in theaters in 2021 and 2022.
