To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the publication of the first volume of the popular manga "Doraemon" (Shogakukan) by the late Fujiko F. Fujio, published in the Tentomushi Comics (TenComi) series, a special edition of the second volume was released on November 22nd, following the special edition of the first volume released in July. In response to the many requests from readers of the special edition of the first volume to be released from the second volume onwards, it has been decided that special editions of volumes 2 to 6 of TenComi "Doraemon" will also be released.
The special edition has a double cover, and when you remove the glossy cover, a cover that reproduces the design of the first edition as much as possible is revealed. It uses higher quality paper than the regular TenComi, and the episodes that were drawn in color at the time of announcement are included in color. The first edition is reproduced in every detail, including the cover of the main body, the total cover, and the scale (font size) of the manga's dialogue.
Each volume comes with a different purchase bonus, and the bonus for the special edition of volume 2 is a "Doraemon Kamishibai" (Doraemon Kamishibai), which has not even been included in "The Complete Works of Fujiko F. Fujio" (Shogakukan). "Doraemon Kamishibai" is said to have been drawn as a promotional item for the magazine "Shogaku Ichinensei" (Shogakukan) around 1978, and is said to be a "phantom work" whose existence was unknown for a long time. A card featuring the original cover illustration of the comics will also be included.
The special edition of volume 3 will be released on December 25th, volume 4 on February 25th, 2025, volume 5 on April 25th, and volume 6 on June 25th, 2025.
In addition to Tencomi, there are various other series of "Doraemon" comics, including paperback editions, but Tencomi's "Doraemon" features episodes selected by Fujiko from those published in various magazines such as "Good Child," "Youchien," and "Shogaku Ichinensei."
