It has been announced that Shinobu Kaitani's popular manga "LIAR GAME," which has also gained popularity as a TV drama and movie, will be adapted into a TV anime and will be broadcast on TV Tokyo and BS TV Tokyo from April 2026. This will be the first time the work will be adapted into a TV anime. The main cast has also been announced, with Saya Niimi playing the role of Nao Kanzaki, a "naively honest" man who gets caught up in the Liar Game, and Takeo Otsuka playing Shinichi Akiyama, a former genius con artist. It has also been announced that composer Yugo Kanno will be in charge of the music.

Once recording began, I hung in there desperately, and I began to feel a strong desire to grow like Nao...! So now I am facing the production with complete honesty. Kanno commented, "The live-action version of 'Liar Game' stands as a monumental achievement, and I still vividly remember Yasutaka Nakata's music. I first reread the original manga and tried to create a new world of 'Liar Game' through music that was different from the live-action version. The good and the bad of human beings, lies and truth, light and shadow. I put the inner conflict that wavers between these two into the melody and rhythm."
The second teaser visual and teaser PV featuring Nao and Akiyama have been released.
"LIAR GAME" is a manga that was serialized in "Weekly Young Jump" (Shueisha) from 2005 to 2015. It is a suspense story that follows an honest female college student, Kanzaki Nao, who gets caught up in a Liar Game, a game of lies and tactics in which players compete for a huge sum of money, and how she and former genius con artist Akiyama Shinichi manage to win. It was made into a TV drama in 2007 starring Matsuda Shota and Toda Erika, with season 2 airing in 2009. Movies were released in 2010 and 2012, and it has also been adapted into a stage play.
The anime will be produced by Madhouse, with Yuzo Sato as general director and Asami Kawano as director.
