The fifth episode of the TBS Tuesday drama "Jaa, Anta ga Tsukutte Miro yo It" (Tuesdays at 10pm), co-starring Kaho and Takeuchi Ryoma, aired on November 4th. The episode drew attention for the scene where Katsuo (Takeuchi) and his ex-girlfriend Ayumi (Kaho) cook together.
◇The following contains spoilers
Katsuo comes up with the idea of making "toriten" (chicken tempura) for his older brother Takahiro (Takashi Tsukamoto), who is visiting from his hometown of Oita. He takes his junior colleagues Shirasaki (Maehara Mizuki) and Minamigawa (Kyoka) out shopping, and by chance meets Ayumi and Minato (Yuzu Aoki).
Katsuo remembered that Takahiro liked the chicken tempura that Ayumi made, and asked Ayumi to teach him the secret to making chicken tempura. With Minato's encouragement, Katsuo decided to make chicken tempura with Ayumi and Shirasaki.
When Katsuo revealed his worries, saying, "I can't seem to get the batter right," Ayumi explained, "If the batter is sticky, you've lost. It takes away the crispness that is the best part of tempura." She then went on to explain the key points to making delicious chicken tempura.
As he fried chicken tempura next to Ayumi, Katsuo couldn't help but smile and asked, "This is the first time I've cooked with you like this, isn't it?" Ayumi replied, "Ah...yeah," and Katsuo thanked her, saying, "You saved me. Thank you for coming."
On social media, many people commented, "Katsuo and Ayumi cooking side by side made me so happy I cried a little," "Katsuo and Ayumi cooking side by side in that kitchen brought tears to my eyes. I want to eat some chicken tempura," and "Ayumi and Katsuo were talking to each other as equals while cooking! It was a great atmosphere and they fit perfectly together, and I couldn't help but wish they'd get back together."
