NHK Special's regular broadcast of the popular series "Unsolved Cases" (General TV, Saturday 10pm). On October 25th, they will be broadcasting "File 03: Land Fraud Case by a Major Home Builder."
This time, we look at the largest land fraud case in history, with losses exceeding 5.5 billion yen. In 2017, a group of fraudsters, known as "land fraudsters," posed as land owners or heirs and proposed fake transactions, scammed 5.5 billion yen from Sekisui House, a major home builder.
Seventeen people were arrested and the investigation concluded, but this year NHK received a letter from a man currently serving a prison sentence who is believed to be the ringleader, saying, "There is another mastermind behind this." This program features rare footage of the transactions, and testimony from a man who was arrested but not indicted. It delves into the unknown true nature of land fraudsters and the methods and truth behind how they defraud large corporations of huge sums of money.
"Unsolved Cases" is a popular series on NHK Special that began airing in 2011 and unravels historical cases through thorough investigative reporting. It will begin airing as a regular program in October, unearthing new facts and testimonies, while also highlighting connections to the present day and lessons learned. Announcer Mayuko Wakuda will serve as the Caster and main narrator.
