An advance screening of season 2 of the TV anime "Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru (Kisekoi)," based on the popular manga by Shinichi Fukuda serialized in "Young Gangan" (Square Enix), was held in Tokyo on June 29. This is the first new TV anime in about three years since season 1, which aired from January to March 2022, and when Hina Suguta, who plays Marin Kitagawa, asked, "Three years... was it a long time?", the gathered fans responded with, "It was a long time!"
Director Shinohara Keisuke said, "It feels like we've been making it for three years. I wonder if they're still making (the main story)."Shoya Ishige, who plays Gojo Niina, revealed his thoughts, "I was asked in various places, 'When will season 2 start?' Even after it was decided that it would air, people around me kept telling me, 'I can only look forward to it,' so even as an actor, I felt a lot of pressure."
Naota, who said she was nervous about recording for the first time in a while, was told by Director Shinohara, "I had a feeling it was Marin from the very beginning!" to which Naota replied delighted, "That's great! After listening to my voice (in Season 1), I went to the dubbing for Season 2."
One of the charms of "Kise Koi" is the "play within a play," and Director Shinohara expressed confidence, saying, "The number of works appearing in the play has increased since Season 1. I think the effort we put into making each one is reflected on the screen, so please continue to pay attention."
Director Shinohara said, "I thought the ending of the original episode was very impactful. I basically tried to stick to the original. Fukuda-sensei is great at concluding episodes," but he also said that structuring the episodes of Season 1 was difficult. "We thought, 'We can do this!' but Season 2 was really difficult. We found that Season 1 just happened to work out well because the interesting story by Fukuda-sensei and the length of the anime happened to overlap well, so writing the script for Season 2 was difficult."
Finally, Director Shinohara commented, "We are currently working hard on the production, and I hope to be able to create an interesting work. I believe we are in the process of creating an interesting work, so I would be delighted if everyone would watch the broadcast until the very end."
Ishige said, "Thank you for today. There are lots of highlights from episodes 13 and 14 of season 2 onwards, so I hope you will continue to support not only the original work but also the anime. Please stay with us until the end!" Naota said, "We have waited three years, and I am so happy that the broadcast is finally approaching. Even if you know how the story unfolds from the dubbing, I think it has turned out to be a fun, entertaining series that you can watch and laugh at. I hope that this summer will be filled with 'Kise Koi'. Let's have fun with 'Kise Koi' this summer!"
"Kise Koi" began serialization in "Young Gangan" in 2018, and the final episode was published in the 7th issue of the magazine on March 21, bringing the curtain down on the approximately 7-year serialization. It is a romantic comedy depicting the love story between Gojo Niina, a high school boy training to become a head maker who makes faces for Hina dolls, and Kitagawa Marin, a gyaru cosplayer who loves anime and games. The comic has sold over 13 million copies in total.
Season 1 of the TV anime aired from January to March 2022. A live-action drama starring Riko Nagase and Kota Nomura was also broadcast from October to December 2024, which also attracted attention. Season 2 will be broadcast on TOKYO MX and other stations from July 5th.
