The 48th episode of the NHK Asadora drama "Anpan " (General TV, Monday to Saturday at 8:00 am and others), starring Mio Imada , was broadcast on June 4th, and viewers reacted to the words and actions of Nobu's (Imada) husband, Jiro ( Ayumu Nakajima Ayumu).
In episode 48, Nobu and Jiro visit the Asada family home, taking family photos and spending a peaceful time listening to Nobu's childhood stories. On the train ride home, Nobu tells Jiro that she has thought of something she wants to do when the war is over, saying, "I want to give my students fun lessons. I don't want them to become good soldiers. And then... I want to go on a ship with Jiro and go to various countries." Jiro smiles happily when he hears her words.
On the day of departure, Jiro entrusted his treasured camera to Nobu, saying, "You use it." When Nobu asked if there was something he hadn't told him, Jiro reported that the ship had been converted into a military transport ship. "I don't know if we'll be able to return as scheduled from the upcoming voyage. If something happens to me, I want you to... make my dream come true instead," he said. "I don't think we can win this war. I don't think Japan can win a war against those great powers, America and Britain."
Nobu insisted, "Don't say that! You shouldn't think that!" "This war will end when Japan wins. You have to think so strongly." Jiro replied, "I understand. I understand a little bit how your students feel," and hugged Nobu gently, saying, "Let's always teach bravely like that in the classroom." Jiro put the camera around Nobu's neck and smiled, saying, "Yeah. It suits you well."
At the front door, Jiro asks Nobu to take a picture of him, but Nobu says, "I'll take a picture when you return safely," and puts down the camera, sending Jiro off with the words, "Do your best to serve your country."
Comments on social media included, "The red flags are definitely rising for him to leave," "Jiro is so kind, but this is tough right before he leaves," "I hope he comes back alive," "Nobu will probably regret this," "Why didn't he take a photo of Jiro?", "My heart clenched," and "Jiro is not only wonderful on the outside, but also on the inside."
