Seiko has collaborated with Kyoto Animation's anime series Violet Evergarden to release a new watch called the Violet Evergarden x Seiko Mechanical Watch. There are two types, Story: 5, inspired by episode 5 of the TV anime, and Story: 7, inspired by episode 7, each priced at 82,280 yen.
The fifth episode tells the story of how Violet comes into contact with the love of a girl her own age through writing a public love letter for Princess Charlotte, who is to marry into a neighboring country. The face of the watch features a design of the moonlit garden where Princess Charlotte and Prince Damien pledged their eternal love, and the second hand is based on the love letter exchanged between the princess and the prince.
In the seventh episode, Violet helps popular playwright Oscar with his writing and comforts him in the deep grief and loneliness of losing his beloved daughter. The watch face is designed to resemble an autumn lake with light shining on the surface of the water where Violet jumped, and the second hand is based on the parasol entrusted to her by Oscar.
