A special memorial program for Shigeo Nagashima, the lifetime honorary manager of the professional baseball team Yomiuri Giants who passed away on June 3rd from pneumonia at the age of 89, will be broadcast on the Nippon Television network from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on the same day.
Titled "Emergency Special: Thank you, Shigeo Nagashima, Mr. Professional Baseball Forever...", the program will look back live on his many achievements, including his glorious 17-year career as a player, including his V9 era as "Mr. Professional Baseball" and "ON Combi", his two terms as manager of the Yomiuri Giants over 15 years, behind-the-scenes stories of his former student at the Giants, Hideki Matsui, and his double award of the People's Honor Award with Matsui, while featuring rare footage stored at Nippon Television.
The hosts will be Nippon Television announcers Kentaro Hirakawa and Erika Tokushima, with guest appearance by Kazuo Tokumitsu. In addition, people with ties to Nagashima are scheduled to appear in the studio.
The shows "Omoumai Mise" and "Odoru! Sanma Goten!!" scheduled to air today will be suspended. New air dates will be announced as soon as they are decided.
