The awards ceremony for the first MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2025, the country's largest international music awards, was held in Kyoto Prefecture on May 21st and 22nd, and the winners of the six major categories were announced.
At the Grand Ceremony on the 22nd, which was broadcast live on NHK and streamed on YouTube, the popular band Mrs. Green Apple won the Best Artist Award. Actor Koji Yakusho appeared as the presenter and presented the trophy, "The Ruby."
Vocalist Motoki Omori began by saying, "This year marks the 10th anniversary of our debut," and expressed his joy at receiving the award, saying, "For the first time, I've taken the opportunity to look back on the past 10 years and realize just how important my band members are to me. I feel like we've been able to get this far thanks to the support of so many people, and most of all, the support of my band members and the fact that I really love making music. Thank you so much. We'll continue to do our best!"
In addition to the award-winning Mrs. Green Apple, YOASOBI, Creepy Nuts, Fujii Kaze, and Atarashii Gakko! were also in attendance at the venue, and presenters included Kyoko Koizumi, Kazuyoshi Miura, and Mao Asada. Eikichi Yazawa and others also gave live performances at the venue. Masaki Suda and others acted as hosts.
