The fifth episode of the TV drama "PJ ~Air Rescue Team~" (TV Asahi, Thursdays 9pm), starring actor Seiyo Uchino, will be broadcast on May 22nd.
Seven students who aim to become rescuers (commonly known as PJs, pararescue jumpers) have just finished their general mountaineering training. They are relieved to have made it through the harsh training with their strong bond while looking after the injured Shirakawa Tomoki (Kentaro Maeda), the unwell Toji Yuki (Atsuhiro Inukai), and the unconscious Fujiki Sayaka (Anna Ishii).
However, the chief instructor, Seiji Usami (Uchino), told the students, "Sergeant Fujiki Sayaka, you've done well up until now, but this is as far as you can go," to their dismay. They were given the opportunity to do the same training again as a "supplement," and they renewed their enthusiasm, saying, "Let's all do it together!"
Sayaka, who is alone and looks depressed, confesses to Usami that she has no confidence. Sayaka sneaks out of the tent and staggers down the dark mountain path...
The next morning, Sawai Jin (Fuju Kamio) wakes up and realizes that Sayaka is not there. There has been no contact from Sayaka at Komaki Base, and her whereabouts are still unknown, so the training is abruptly canceled. The instructors begin a search. Sawai and the others plead to be allowed to participate. According to the rules, it is a big problem to have students help with the search, but Usami unilaterally decides to force the students to join in the search...
The screenplay was written by Izumi Takahashi. The story depicts students who aim to become rescuers for the Air Self-Defense Force's Air Rescue Wing, an elite unit for rescue operations and the "last stronghold" for saving lives, as they undergo rigorous training under the strict and unconventional instructor, Usami. The Air Self-Defense Force has given its full cooperation.
