"Detective! Night Scoop" (ABC TV, Friday 11:17pm) is a popular variety show where "detectives" tackle the most bizarre requests and worries sent in by viewers. On the April 25th broadcast, Detective Kanpei Hazama investigated "Do aunties in Kansai hit you if you praise them?" Deputy Director Futaba Katsura, Secretary Saori Masuda, and Advisor Hiroshi Maru also appeared.
The request came from a woman (28) in Tokyo. The woman is originally from Osaka and moved to Tokyo after getting married. The other day, I had an argument with my husband, who is from Tokyo, about something related to "Kansai aunties." When I said, "Kansai aunties will hit you hard if you're praised," my husband said, "I don't understand why you'd be praised and then hit the other person," and when I told him, "It's normal in Kansai," he didn't believe me at all.
So, in order to show her husband, she asks him to investigate whether there really are such aunties in the Kansai region. Detective Kanpei begins his investigation in the shopping district of Amagasaki, where he praises the aunties over and over again. In response, the aunties start hitting Detective Kanpei repeatedly... What is the reason that aunties in the Kansai region hit when they are praised?
