The TV anime "Vigilante - My Hero Academia ILLEGALS -", based on the official spin-off of Kohei Horikoshi's popular manga "My Hero Academia (Hiroaka)", will be broadcast on TOKYO MX, Yomiuri TV and other stations from April 7th. Set in Japan several years before the main story of "Hiroaka", the drama depicts the drama of illegal heroes, the Vigilantes, who cannot help but save those in front of them, even if they are not "chosen" to do so, behind the "chosen" heroes who protect people from enemies (villains) who abuse their "quirks".
"Vigilante: My Hero Academia ILLEGALS" is a manga written by Hideyuki Furuhashi and illustrated by Arata Betsuki, which was serialized on Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump+" from 2017 to 2022. It is an official spin-off of the "My Hero Academia " series, and has been gaining popularity not only in Japan but also overseas.
The anime will be directed by Kenichi Suzuki , who has worked on " Cells at Work" and "JOJO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURE Adventure: Stone Ocean," and will be produced by Bones Films, the same company that produced " My Hero Academia."
The first episode, "I'm Here," unfolds in a world where about 80% of the population has some kind of supernatural ability, a "quirk," and where, with government approval, the existence of "heroes" who protect society with their "quirks" has been established. In this world, an ordinary college student, Haimai Koichi, is unable to let go of his longing to become a hero that he once gave up on, and secretly enjoys helping people as a pseudo-hero calling himself "Kindness Man." One day, Koichi is entangled by some thugs and finds himself in a life-or-death situation. At that moment, a "certain being" appears before Koichi that is neither a hero nor a police officer.
