On December 28th, the three-member unit Perfume appeared in gorgeous dresses at the rehearsal for the 76th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen, which was held at the NHK Hall in Shibuya, Tokyo.
Perfume, who have announced that they will be going into "cold sleep" (hiatus) at the end of 2025, will be appearing at Kohaku for the 17th time and for the first time in two years. They will perform a medley of "Polyrhythm" and "Meguri Loop."
When asked by a reporter if they would be dancing in the dress during the actual performance, Nishiwaki Ayaka, also known as "A-chan," laughed and said, "I can't dance in this! I can't dance at all." Kashino Yuka, also known as "Kashiyuka," confessed, "But I really wanted to wear it," to which A-chan explained, "I was thinking of wearing it at the opening. But when I tried it on, I thought it would be too difficult. So I thought I'd wear it at the press conference."
The dress was designed by designer TOMO KOIZUMI. It also became a hot topic when American singer Lady Gaga wore an outfit from the same brand when she visited Japan. A-chan explained, "It was made by a wonderful Japanese artist called Tomo Koizumi," and commented with satisfaction, "We've been able to fulfill all our dreams. Now we can go into cold sleep without any worries." Ayano Omoto, also known as "Nocchi," also smiled and said the dress was "cute."
The theme of the 76th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen is "Connecting, Connecting, New Year's Eve," and it will be hosted by Hiroiki Ariyoshi, Haruka Ayase, Mio Imada, and announcer Naoko Suzuki. It will be broadcast from 7:20 pm to 11:45 pm on December 31st (with some news breaks).
