Details of the Nintendo Switch 2, the successor to Nintendo's game console, the Nintendo Switch, were revealed on April 2nd. It is scheduled to be released on June 5th. The "Japanese/domestic only" version will be priced at 49,980 yen, while a version (53,980 yen) bundled with a downloadable version of the exclusive software "Mario Kart World," which will be released at the same time, will be available. The multilingual version (69,980 yen) will be sold exclusively through the official online store, My Nintendo Store.
The Switch 2 was announced to be released in 2025 during the Nintendo Direct on January 16th. In addition to dedicated software, it will be possible to play Nintendo Switch software, both packaged and downloadable. The screen has been enlarged to 7.9 inches. It also supports 4K, and the dock is equipped with a cooling fan. It can use micro SD Express cards, but previous micro SD cards cannot be used.
The Switch 2 Joy-Con 2 is magnetically connected and is equipped with a new "C button" for game chat. Video chat is also possible by attaching a separately sold camera. Both the left and right Joy-Cons can be used as a mouse, and by combining them with the gyro sensor, new ways to play can be enjoyed.
Events where people can experience the device early will be held in cities around the world. In Japan, the event is scheduled to be held on April 26th and 27th at Makuhari Messe (Mihama-ku, Chiba City) for those who have applied in advance (applications are now closed).
