Fuji TV's " Getsuku " drama "Yandoku!" (Mondays 9pm) starring Kanna Hashimoto will begin airing on January 12th. Hashimoto plays a high school dropout and former delinquent girl who, after her best friend dies in an accident, studies hard to become a neurosurgeon, and reforms the medical field while caring for patients suffering from illness in this thrilling medical drama. This is Hashimoto's first lead role in a Getsuku drama. The first episode will be extended by 30 minutes.
The script was written by Nemoto Nonji, who also wrote the NHK morning drama "Omusubi" starring Hashimoto. Hashimoto's character, Tagami Kotoha, is based on a neurosurgeon at a certain hospital.
When Koonami was 16 and a delinquent, she was involved in a motorbike accident with her best friend. Her friend suffered severe brain injuries and died. Koonami was saved by the doctor at the hospital where she was taken, Nakata Keisuke (Osamu Mukai). After Nakata gave her advice on how to use her remaining life, she made up her mind to study hard and become a neurosurgeon. Nakata called her to work at a hospital in Tokyo. Ryubi Miyase plays Suzuki Sara, a new nurse; Uchida Rio plays Jojima Reina, a club hostess and a close friend of Koonami's from her delinquent days; and Yoshida Kotaro plays Kotaro Yoshida, Koonami's father.
In the first episode, new doctor Koonami Tagami (played by Hashimoto) arrives at the Tokyo Metropolitan Odaiba Bayside Medical Center. Dressed neatly and with a beautiful appearance that turns heads when people pass by, Koonami walks briskly through the hospital and heads to the neurosurgery staff room.
Neurosurgeon Otomo (Takuma Otoo) and cardiologist Murai are arguing over which department should be in charge of an emergency patient who has been rushed in. When the two try to push the responsibility onto each other despite the emergency, Koonami snaps in a gruff Gifu dialect, "Enough already! You fools!"
Nakata (Mukai) appears there. Koonami is embarrassed to be reunited with the man who saved her life, saying "...sorry." Under Nakata's instructions, Koonami is tasked with operating on an emergency patient, and with precise dexterity performs the catheter surgery successfully. After the surgery, Koonami asks, "I've changed, haven't I?" Nakata responds coldly, "It seems like nothing has changed."
Seeing Nakata fawning over the hospital director, Okawara (Otsuka Nene), and the secretary-general, Takayama (Otani Ryohei), and doing whatever the organization tells him to do, Koonami is disgusted and says, "That's kind of lame, Professor." Nakata replies, "People change after 13 years."
