Naoki Urasawa, the manga artist known for works such as "YAWARA!" and "20th Century Boys," will appear on the travel program "I Want to Go Far Away" (Yomiuri TV, Nippon TV, etc.) airing on June 14th. Urasawa, who has been in the industry for 43 years but has hardly ever traveled within Japan, will travel to Kagoshima with his sketchbook in hand, feeling like an adventure king.
At the start of his journey, Urasawa boarded the Hisatsu Orange Railway, which runs along the coast, and was thrilled by the view from the window next to the driver's seat. At Ushinohama Station, he enjoyed the spectacular scenery and helped promote Ushinohama alongside the locals. He walked to a secluded hot spring in the mountains, which was said to have been loved by Saigo Takamori, and was impressed by the craftsmanship hidden within the helmet worn by Shohei Ohtani. He explored an island floating in the East China Sea where he could encounter a rare shrimp, meeting fascinating landscapes and people.
It will air on Yomiuri TV from 7:00 AM on June 14th, and on Nippon Television from 6:30 AM on the same day.
