The world premiere of "Minecraft: The Movie" (directed by Jared Hess, released on April 25th), the first live-action film adaptation of the world of the popular game "Minecraft", was held on March 30th (local time) at Leicester Square in London, where Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Emma Myers and others made an appearance. They delighted the many "Minecraft" fans who gathered.
"Minecraft" is a game where you can freely create and adventure in a virtual space made up of 3D blocks. In 2023, the number of copies sold worldwide exceeded 300 million. The movie depicts the adventures of four men and women, including Steve (Black) and former top gamer Garrett (Momoa), who are transported to a mysterious world called "Minecraft World" where they can create anything they think of after touching a mysterious blue glowing cube.
Instead of a red carpet, the venue, Leicester Square, had real grass laid out, and the square wolf Dennis, the popular character Creeper, square trees and flowers that appear in the film were decorated to create the image of a "Minecraft world." The cast appeared amid cheers, dressed in vibrant costumes, and enjoyed interacting with the fans.
When asked for a comment to his Japanese fans, Momoa said, "I'm happy that everyone in Japan will be able to watch it. It's a fun-filled movie, so I hope you enjoy it. The famous Jack Black will also be in it, so you'll be blown away!" When asked what he would like to do in "Minecraft World," he said, "What do you want to do? A motorcycle. I want to take all my Japanese friends on a ride and blow up Minecraft World!"
When the microphone was pointed at Black, who was told, "This is an interview with Japan," he politely replied in Japanese, "Thank you!" He expressed his eagerness to go to Japan, saying, "Hello Japan! With love. I can't wait to go to Tokyo again. Love and peace!" Emma, who plays Natalie, also called out, "To all the Minecraft fans in Japan! I'm happy to talk to you. I hope you enjoy the movie."
