Additional cast members for the TV anime "SAKAMOTO DAYS," based on the popular manga by Suzuki Yuto currently being serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha), have been announced, including Kaida Yuko, Chiaki Kobayashi, Ryota Takeuchi, and Toriumi Kosuke. The four will play death row inmates who escape from prison with the help of the X (Slur) group. Kaida will play Dump, who gets excited by the terrified faces of people before they die, Kobayashi will play Apartment, a serial killer with a meticulous personality, Takeuchi will play a minimalist who uses his strong grip to go on a killing spree, and Toriumi will play Sou, a former soldier who seeks "drama" in the deaths of others. The four will appear in the 11th episode, "Casino Battle," which will be the final episode of the first season.
Kaida commented, "I tried and tested many different ways to portray Dump, a character filled with twisted love and madness. The battle between him and Daibutsu, both of whom have no common sense, was interesting. I hope the viewers enjoy it too!"
Kobayashi said, "Although Apart is one of the death row inmates, at first glance he appears to be an ordinary young man, with low self-esteem and not a particularly violent personality. There are many questions about why he became a death row inmate, what fighting methods he will use, and so on. I played the role with a lot of love, so please watch the broadcast and get to know Apart better. Thank you!"
Takeuchi commented, "I played a minimalist who likes to wrap everything up in small words and hates lies! Every word he says carries weight, and he has an arrogant attitude that comes from his confidence in himself, thinking, 'I'm strong.' He was a lot of fun to prepare for the role! The scene where he fights his opponent while harboring unfulfilled desires is particularly worth watching! Be sure to watch the battle between the minimalist and these four eccentric death row inmates!"
Toriumi said, "The character of Saw seems to be the most sensible of the four, but he is also a highly skilled assassin, and his calm madness allows him to kill people with the same ease as breathing, so I get the impression that he is not a sensible person. I hope that you enjoy the film and the appearance of the four and Saw."
The story is about Sakamoto Taro, a former legendary assassin who runs a shop after retiring, who fights with his friends against approaching assassins to protect the peaceful daily life he lives with his beloved family. This much-talked-about Weekly Shonen Jump series is popular for its spectacular battle scenes featuring unique characters, and is also notable for its appearance by a star-studded cast of voice actors, including Nobunaga Shimazaki as Asakura Shin, a psychic who can read other people's minds and a subordinate of Sakamoto's from his days as an assassin, and Ayane Sakura, a former mafia member who now works at Sakamoto Shoten. It airs every Saturday at 11pm on TV Tokyo and other networks.
