It has been announced that the long-running family drama "Wataru Seken wa Oni Bakari" by the late Sugako Hashida, who was affectionately nicknamed "Wataru Oni", will be broadcast on BS-TBS from March 31st. The first to fifth series will be broadcast over the course of a year in 2025, the 100th anniversary of her birth. This will be the first time that the station will broadcast the first to fifth series in one go.
Wataru Seken wa Oni Bakari, written by Hashida Sugako and produced by Ishii Fukuko, was a popular drama series that aired from 1990 to 2011. It portrayed the family life of the five Okakura sisters, including Satsuki played by Izumi Pinko, and attracted attention for its realistic portrayal of the problems that arise in each family.
The first series will be broadcast from March 31st at 4:59 pm Monday to Friday, and various problems will arise, such as the inheritance problem of Satsuki's father-in-law and her father Daikichi (Takuya Fujioka) quitting his job as a salaryman to start training as a chef. The broadcast start date for the second series and beyond has not yet been decided.
