In fact, Masato had visited a second-hand clothing store to see Ayumi (Riisa Naka) at work, and there he meets Watanabe Takao (Naoto Ogata), who has returned to Kobe. Takao invites Masato out into the city to try and cheer him up.
After a thorough examination, the name of the saint's illness was revealed. It was stomach cancer. The saint's surgery went well, but they said they would need to monitor his progress for the next five years. Yui was in charge of his post-surgery diet, and following Yui's instructions, the saint was gradually able to eat normal food... and so the story unfolded.
