It has been announced that voice actors Masako Nozawa Nozawa, Shigeru Chiba, and Sumire Uesaka will appear in the movie version of " Me & Roboco , " an anime based on the popular comedy manga by Shuhei Miyazaki currently serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha). The movie is an original story based on the original "Multiverse and Roboco," and features "Multiverse Roboco" from various worlds. Sumire Uesaka will play Roboco (from the world of serious sci-fi action), Uesaka will play Roboco (from the world of romantic comedy), and Nozawa will play Roboco (from the world of the Showa comedy manga).
In addition to Shun Matsuo of the comedy duo "Chocolate Planet" who will play Roboco, and Mayumi Tanaka who will play Roboco (in the world line of the royal road battle) announced in December 2024, a luxurious cast of voice actors will be playing Roboco and the others. A visual of a group of five Robocos in the Multiverse has also been released.
Chiba, who plays the familiar Roboco (in a world set in a full-scale sci-fi action movie), commented, "Huh?... Why is he here?... He's in an apron... Is he a man?... Is he a woman?... Is he a maid???" "For me, who has only played a handful of characters who speak monotonously with barely any facial expressions, playing full-scale sci-fi Roboco was as delightful as discovering 'mustard lotus root' on the menu at a cafe I found in a back alley on Venus!!" "So sit back in your seat in the movie theater, let yourself be engrossed in a chaotic world full of gags without thinking about anything, and enjoy it on a cellular level!!"
Ms. Uesaka, who plays Roboco (in the romantic comedy world line), said, "She's just so cute! Roboco has all the elements of a romantic comedy heroine that everyone has fallen in love with at least once. I had previously auditioned for the role of Roboco in the anime version, so I never thought I would get to play her in this way! I was filled with joy!" "The other Roboco characters are just too powerful in so many ways, but Romantic Comedy Roboco is able to carry herself throughout the film with a weak, gentle mood that I felt was 'strong in a way...!' I tried to portray her with the carefree attitude of a romantic comedy heroine, who often falls over and gets her clothes torn off!" "The story of the movie brings together Roboco from across the multiverse... it's really... amazing!! There's no doubt that we'll be witnessing something historically amazing! Weekly Shonen Jump is amazing, after all!!! Everyone, please look forward to it!"
Nozawa, who plays Roboco (in the world of Showa-era comedy manga), commented, "If I had to say, I prefer characters like this to serious characters. But I have to hold him back because he gets too into it (laughs). It's good when anyone can enjoy it and the laughter comes naturally." "I don't think that this kind of fun, laugh-inducing stuff is funny if it's made in advance. After all, the lines come alive more when you express the emotions that come out in the moment, and I love that feeling of "Wow!" the moment you see it." "It's a really fun movie. After you invite a friend to see it once, don't just go and see it once, invite different friends next time and watch it multiple times. I hope the friends who saw it with you will also go see it again and invite different friends!"
"Me & Roboco" began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Jump" in July 2020. Set in the year 20XX, when every household has a beautiful maid robot, the story depicts the comical daily life of Roboco, a maid robot with unconventional behavior, and Bond, a kind-hearted boy. The total number of copies of the comics published is about 1.5 million.
The TV anime aired from December 2022 to June 2023. The movie version will be directed by Heitaro Daichi, who is known for his work on anime such as "Ojarumaru" and "Sexy Command Gaiden: Sugoi yo!! Masaru-san" and is also known as a "master of comedy anime." It will be released on April 18th.
