The three-member unit Perfume appeared on the 76th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen on December 31st. Having announced that they will be going into "cold sleep" (hiatus) from 2026, Perfume explained the reason for their decision to go on hiatus, saying, "We decided to take on this challenge as a team, because we wanted to do what we could now so that we could continue to enjoy Perfume for a long time to come."
He sent a message to his fans saying, "I am truly grateful to everyone who has supported me for the past 25 years. The many scenes that we have created together are our treasures. Thank you so much."
Before singing, they vowed, "We've talked about how as long as the three of us stay together, we can be Perfume forever. We each want to come back more powerful, so we look forward to the day we can meet you all again."
Perfume had appeared at the Kohaku Uta Gassen for 16 consecutive years until 2023, but they did not appear last year, ending their streak. In September of this year, marking their 25th anniversary since their formation, the group announced that they would go into "cold sleep" (hiatus) from 2026.
