Sara Honda, a talent, was interviewed in her best clothes and looked back on 2024, saying, "I've had more opportunities to appear in fashion magazines, such as walking the runway as a model, so I think this year was a year of new challenges." She will turn 18 this April, and we asked her about her feelings about coming of age, what she wants to challenge in her last year of high school, and her future plans.
When asked about his most memorable academic experience last year, Honda, a second-year high school student, laughed and said, "I had to study hard every day." He continued, "I passed the Eiken Grade 2 exam! I think I was able to see the results and grow. My older brother has passed the Grade 2 exam, so I'm really happy to have passed the same exam!"
In April, she will advance to her third year of high school and reach adulthood at the age of 18. "I can't even imagine becoming an adult, and it still doesn't really feel real," she said, adding, "It's the age when you can get a driver's license, vote, and do a lot of different things. I like studying those kinds of subjects, so I want to learn all sorts of things. My year as a 17 year old went by in the blink of an eye, so I want to have an even more fulfilling year."
She sometimes appears with her older sisters Marin and Miyu as the "Honda Three Sisters," and says with a smile, "My sisters were surprised when I turned 17, but I think they'll be even more surprised." She adds, "My older sister Marin in particular raised me like a second mother, so she's really surprised (laughs). She often says, 'I want to have a drink with her soon,' so I can't wait for her to turn 20." She gives us a glimpse of their closeness.
When asked about the possibility of "graduating from being the youngest child character" and "becoming independent from her sisters" as she comes of age, she answered with a smile, "When I have my sisters by my side I can answer their questions with peace of mind, so when they are gone I feel lonely and anxious. However, since last year I have been appearing on variety shows by myself and I do most of my modeling work by myself, so I wonder if I am slowly becoming independent from my older sisters in that respect? I don't think my older sisters will let me leave them (laughs)!"
She is still searching for her future after graduating from high school. "I don't know what I want to do in the future... I used to want to be a veterinarian or a pharmacist, but I often change my mind after listening to the opinions of adults (laughs)." She added, "Many people know me for skating and as the youngest of three sisters, but I want to work hard to increase the number of fans who just see me, think I'm cute, and fall in love with me."
One thing she wants to try this year is acting. "Miyu is an actor, but I want this year to be one where I can try my hand at acting too," she said. (Interview and text: Endo Masaki)
