It has been revealed that the movie "Doctor X: Final" (directed by Tamura Naoki), starring Ryoko Yonekura, which was released on December 6th, has attracted over 1 million viewers in 10 days (according to Kogyo Tsushinsha). The box office revenue has exceeded 1.38 billion yen, and the production side expects the final box office revenue to be "over 3 billion yen."
The film is the conclusion of the popular drama series "Doctor X: Surgeon Daimon Michiko," which has been broadcast on TV Asahi since 2012. It is the first film adaptation of the series by the team that has led "Doctor X" for 12 years, including screenwriter Miho Nakazono and director Naoki Tamura, and is the final installment.
The story uncovers the "secret of birth" of the main character, Daimon Michiko (Yonekura), and features familiar cast members from the drama series. Shota Sometani, Daigo Nishihata from "Naniwa Danshi," and Go Ayano also appeared in the movie version. This was the last work of Toshiyuki Nishida, who passed away in October.
Currently, Yonekura and the rest of the cast are giving stage greetings at movie theaters across the country to express their gratitude to fans for the past 12 years. The last one will be held on the 22nd at TOHO Cinemas Hibiya (Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo), but it has been decided that the stage greetings will be broadcast live at 300 movie theaters across the country. Details will be announced on the movie's official website at noon on the 17th.
