It has been revealed that actor Shota Sometani will star in the film "BAUS: A Cinema Set on the Seas," which will be released on March 21, 2025. The film is based on the Kichijoji Baus Theater, which closed in 2014, and depicts the history of cinemas over the course of about 90 years, including its predecessor. Kichijoji Baus Theater built a 30-year history with the reckless concept of "doing anything interesting," and was loved by many audiences and creators. About 90 years before its closure in 2014, the first cinema, Inokashira Kaikan, was built in Kichijoji in 1925, and in 1951, Musashino Movie Theater, the predecessor of Baus Theater, was born. The film depicts the long journey of the people who continued to protect the theater and deliver entertainment despite being at the mercy of the times. Sometani plays Saneo, who moved to Tokyo from Aomori and works at Inokashira Kaikan. Although he has a solid personality, he is often pushed around by his older brother Hajime, and one day he is suddenly entrusted with the role of president of a movie theater. Kazunobu Mineta of the rock band "Gin Nang BOYZ" will play the role of Hajime, and Kaho will play Saneo's wife Hama. Hajime brings one reckless idea after another to the movie theater, and Hama is portrayed as a strong-willed woman who supports the two of them. Sometani commented, "The Baus Theater was the place of my youth. This movie is the culmination of a dreamlike time created with the best cast and staff. Please come and see it at the theater." Mineta said, "The Baus is a living thing, and this movie is the last dream I had as I devoted my long life to it," and Kaho expressed her expectations for the release, saying, "The filming site was filled with love for movies, and I think that love is oozing out of the work." The director is Motoki Motoki. The script was written by Shinji Aoyama, who passed away in 2022, and was completed by Director Motoki Motoki. The music is by Otomo Yoshihide, who has close ties with Kichijoji Baus Theater.
