The fifth episode of the TBS Sunday Theatre drama "Diamonds Sleeping in the Sea" (Sunday 9pm) starring actor Kamiki Ryunosuke, "One Island Family", will air on November 24th. Actor Shimizu Hiroya, who plays protagonist Teppei's (Kamiki) childhood friend Kensho on Hashima in the past part, looked back on the past and talked about the highlights of the fifth episode.

The previous fourth episode of "Diamonds Sleeping in the Sea" really got the story moving, and various stories were depicted, such as Yuriko's past as an atomic bomb victim in Nagasaki, which was behind the delicate relationship between Asako (Sugisaki Hana) and Yuriko (Tsuchiya Tao), and how each of them kept their secrets in their hearts but remained "silent" for each other, which is contained in the title of the fourth episode, "Silence".
In addition to the four characters Teppei, Asako, Kensho, and Yuriko, Shinpei (Saito Takumi) and Rina (Ikeda Elaiza) also grew closer, and their love lives are also a hot topic in this work. In episode 2, Kensho's devoted feelings for Asako were revealed, but in episode 4, he returns Yuriko's medal that he found during a typhoon, and hides her from the prying eyes of others as she cries, overwhelmed with feelings for her mother.
When Shimizu, who is making his first appearance on "Sunday Theater," was asked about the reactions of those around him, he said, "Thankfully, I've received a lot of feedback from people. Many people have sent me their thoughts with their own analysis, and I realize that everyone is enjoying it. In the scene with Asako in episode 2, I think that was the best I could do to express Kensho, so I acted while hoping that I could convey his clumsiness and cuteness."
In episode 5, the relationship between Kensho and his father, Tatsuo (Sawamura Ikki), and a scene that shows the emotions of Kensho, who grew up on Hashima as the son of a senior executive at Takaba Mining, are depicted. Regarding this point, he said, "The scenes where I express strong emotions are difficult to find the right balance, and I thought about it a lot. Even though my actions are uncharacteristic of Kensho, I was conscious of the tense state of mind where he doesn't know what to do."
When he read the script for episode 5, he commented, "I had the impression that the story was starting to move, with Izumi's true identity and the relationship between Lina and Shinpei. This episode also features Kensho's conflicts and his relationship with his father, so although I thought it would be difficult, I wanted to act it carefully."
Regarding the filming, he reflected, "Everyone on set was wonderful, and the atmosphere was warm. I have a lot of contact with Kamiki-san and Tsuchiya-san, even off camera, and I learn a lot from them every day."
Finally, she sent a message to viewers looking forward to episode 5, saying, "I think this is a story about how Kensho faces the conflicts that come with his position and his own feelings. I hope you will pay attention not only to the story as a whole, but also to the way Kensho, who appears strong-willed but is actually timid and still young, gradually grows."
