It has been revealed that actor Sonim, former Angerme member Tamura Meimi, musical actors Harada Maaya and Sugaya Marie, singer and model Suzuki Airi, and actor Kazuki Sora, who will appear in the musical "SIX" (Japanese cast version) to be performed in Japan from January 2025, will appear in the 19th episode of WOWOW's musical program "Live Broadcast! Inoue Yoshio Musical Hour 'Yoshio's Mu'" to be broadcast from 10 pm on December 11th.
The musical "SIX", which will be performed in Japan for the first time, will be performed in January and February next year with the visiting cast and the Japanese cast version. The singing video of the Japanese cast version, which is currently available, has been viewed more than 350,000 times in total (as of November 21st), and is attracting attention even before the show starts. Six ex-wives of Henry VIII, the most famous tyrant in British history, come back to life from 16th century England to the present day, singing nonstop for 80 minutes to compete to see who suffered the most misery by overlaying their own tragic lives at the mercy of their infamous ex-husbands.
The play was created in 2017 by Toby Marlowe and Lucy Moss, who were then students at Cambridge University, and was first performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, a famous gateway for up-and-coming performers. With its dynamic and catchy music, witty lyrics, and strong feminist overtones, "SIX" quickly gained popularity. It was also performed on Broadway in New York from 2020 to 2021, and has since expanded to countries around the world.
It has won 35 awards around the world, including two Tony Awards. The Broadway album "SIX: LIVE ON OPENING NIGHT" debuted at number one on the Billboard Cast Album Chart and exceeded 6 million streams in the first month. It also created a vibrant online community of enthusiastic fans called "Queendom".
The MC of the show, Yoshio Inoue, is a special supporter of the Japanese performance of the musical "SIX" and, as a member of Queendom, he conveys the appeal of the work and the cast.
The 19th episode of "Live Broadcast! Yoshio Inoue Musical Hour 'Yoshio's Mu'" will be broadcast live and streamed live on WOWOW Live and WOWOW On Demand from 10pm on December 11th.
The full comments of the six performers are as follows.
◇Sonin
I'm nervous about singing the live broadcast of the musical "SIX" for the first time in Japan, but I hope it will be an opportunity to get people to know about the work and get them excited! Yoshio-kun is a special supporter of SIX, and I think he will take the girl power and make the most of it, so I'll entrust myself to him!
◇Tamura Meimi
I'm very happy and excited to be able to appear on "Yoshio's Mu", which always features famous musical stars! Also, this time I'll be participating with my friends from "SIX", so we'll all turn the studio into a hot live venue! We'll be so excited that you might get burned, so be careful!
◇Harada Maaya
I first performed with Yoshio-san in last year's musical "Ragtime". During the scene with Coalhouse, played by Yoshio-san, I was struggling with the lines that had to fit into the musical bars, and Yoshio-san accompanied me in rehearsing my lines many times, which is an unforgettable memory. I'm nervous about my first live broadcast appearance, but I'm really looking forward to "Yoshio's Mu"!
◇Sugaya Marie
I'll be in the mood for my first "Yoshio's Mu"! From my debut in "Miss Saigon" to this year's "Moulin Rouge! The Musical," I've been friends with Yoshio for about... years (surprising). This time, I hope to be able to share the charm of "SIX" with Yoshio on his show, which he says is also "Queendom"!
◇Airi Suzuki
I've worked with Yoshio Inoue on "Classic TV" and "Utacon." I'm happy that I, a newcomer to the musical world, will be appearing on a show where people from the musical world have given such wonderful live performances! Rehearsals have just started, so I'm a bit nervous, but I hope I can convey the greatness of "SIX," which is making its first appearance in Japan! ! ! !
◇Sora Kazuki
I have the impression that he is a wonderful person, not only on stage, but also in conversation. In the past, when I streamed a stage play in which I was the lead, Yoshio's live stream was streamed in the slot before, and I heard him say that the talk was so exciting that he said that he wouldn't be able to make it in time for Kazuki's next stream. I remember him every time I see Yoshio. I'm really looking forward to meeting him, and hope to be able to share the appeal of "SIX" with everyone!
