It has been revealed that actor Nana Kiyohara will star in the January 2025 Monday 9pm drama "119 Emergency Call" (Fuji TV, Mondays at 9pm). The story is set in a fire department's communications command center and is a completely original story about dispatchers. Kiyohara, who will be starring in her first Monday 9pm drama, said, "I actually auditioned for Monday 9pm dramas when I was in my early 20s. My dream has finally come true, and now that I'm 30, I'm honored to be starring in my first Monday 9pm drama."
A dispatcher responds to emergency calls on 119 and appropriately orders the dispatch of ambulances and fire engines. Dispatch controllers are a group of fire and emergency specialists with a variety of skills who identify the location of the call from the words of the panicked caller and get the necessary troops to the scene as quickly as possible. They also have to spend time dealing with the frequent prank calls, and when they call emergency 119, they are routinely yelled at and insulted. They also need to be prepared for huge disasters, major accidents, and pandemics that can strike at any time. This is the story of the heroes who support the "119 = emergency call".
To pursue realism, with the full cooperation of the Yokohama Fire Department, a state-of-the-art fire command center equipped with a large multi-display, system monitoring control device, and live video communication system was completely reproduced on a set. The script was written by Hashimoto Natsu, who has worked on "Furizumimore Kodoku na Shi yo" (Let's Fall, Lonely Death), and Koyanagi Keigo, who has worked on "Ultraman Blazer". The director is Mizuta Shigehide, who worked on "ER 24 Hours," and Namiki Michiko.
The lead role is played by Kiyono, who plays Kasuhara Yuki, a command and control officer in the 3rd Command Division of the Yokohama Fire Department. He previously worked at a bank, but one day he took the firefighter recruitment exam and passed. After working in the field for two years, she is a new recruit who requested to be transferred to the command section. She once had a house fire and was saved by the voice of a control officer who responded to a 119 call, and she wants to be like him. She has high concentration and insight, and has the special skill of mysteriously not forgetting voices and sounds she has heard once, making her highly suitable as a control officer. On the other hand, she is the type who "goes her own way" and does not change her mind to suit others, which sometimes creates friction within the entire fire department organization...
◇Comments from Kiyohara Nana
--Please tell us how you felt when you were decided to appear in this work.
When I heard about this role, I didn't know what the job of a control officer was, so I thought I had to study properly. I think it's a behind-the-scenes thing that you don't often get to know in your daily life, so I hope I can convey it well through the drama.
--What was your impression after reading the script?
Until now, I didn't know what happened when you called 119, so it was very interesting to learn more about it through the script. I really felt the difficulty of guiding someone by just listening to their voice.
--What is your impression of the role you will be playing?
The character I play, Kasuhara Yuki, started out as a bank clerk, but after an experience when she was young, she aimed to become a command and control officer, and I think she is a very proactive woman who has made her dream of becoming a command and control officer come true. Even after becoming a command and control officer, she still went to the scene to check if her response was correct or if there was a better way to do it, and I was impressed by her dedication.
--This is your first lead role in a prime-time drama in your long career, and your first appearance and lead role in a Monday 9pm drama. How do you feel about it?
I was honestly happy! Actually, I auditioned for Monday 9pm dramas when I was in my early 20s. My long-awaited dream has finally come true, and now that I'm 30, I'm extremely honored to be starring in my first drama, which is a Monday night drama.
--Please tell us about your thoughts on this series.
After this series was decided, I had the opportunity to speak with people who actually work on the scene, and I heard that there are prank calls and that people who are truly in trouble can't be reached. I also heard that they want to reduce the number of such calls, and I hope that through this drama I can convey to everyone the importance of emergency calls.
--Finally, please give a message to the viewers and fans who are looking forward to the broadcast.
The job of a command and control officer is one that requires teamwork, and I was impressed by how cool it is to see them responding quickly to calls every day. We on the set are also united as a team, and I hope that we can show everyone that. I would be honored if you look forward to it. Thank you!
