In "Fateful Encounters," we ask today's hottest actors and artists about the people who influenced them. This time, we have actor Ayaka Miyoshi, who plays Ayaka Miyoshi, a friend of the late mother of the main character Sakuya (Sosuke Ikematsu) in the movie "Honshin" (directed by Yuya Ishii), talk about director Tetsuya Nakashima, whom she met while appearing in the movie "Confessions" (2010).

I started modeling at the age of 7, and when I was gradually starting to act, I appeared in the movie "Confessions" as a student. I was young at the time (14 years old), and rather than wanting to become a serious actor, I was still a bit fluffy.

"Confessions" begins with a scene in which more than 30 classmates all drink milk, and what was really impressive at the time was that director Nakajima took many shots of that scene so that each person's drinking style would not overlap. He called each person in one by one and asked them to "show us various variations" and filmed them.

He featured each student in this way, and as a result, it became a very memorable scene. Seeing the director directing in this way made me think that acting might be interesting.

The movie "Honshin" in which I starred is about something that is becoming more real in the real world, and it is a story that goes straight to people's hearts while incorporating the merits and demerits of the age of AI and technological advances, which I myself thought was a little bit of a non-issue.

The character I played, Miyoshi, is a woman who suffers from the trauma and complex of not being able to touch people, and tries her best to face people. Each character is portrayed very realistically and vividly, and I hope you will pay attention to the parts where they struggle. I'm sure you can find some parts that overlap with you, so I would be happy if you could find those parts and sympathize with them.

Miyoshi Ayaka Born June 18, 1996. She was an exclusive model for the fashion magazine "Seventeen" for seven years, and graduated from the magazine in 2017. In recent years, she has appeared in many popular works, including the Netflix original series "Alice in Borderland Season 1 and 2". Last year, she starred in the Japan-Korea co-produced crime action entertainment film "Knuckle Girl", which was distributed on Prime Video. In 2022, she became the first brand ambassador for Tiffany & Co. in Japan. In 2024, she became the official ambassador for the TikTok TOHO Film Festival 2024. In October, she won the Rising Star Award at the Asia Content Awards & Global OTT Awards 2024.

The film "Honshin", which is currently being shown, is the latest work by Director Ishii, known for "The Great Passage" (2013) and other works, and is based on the novel of the same name (Bunshun Bunko/Cork) by Keiichiro Hirano, known for "A Certain Man" and other works. Set in a not-too-distant future (the story begins in 2025) where digitalization has progressed even further and the boundaries between "real" and "virtual" have become blurred, this human mystery explores the hearts and essence of the people around Ishikawa Sakuya (Ikematsu), a young man who chooses to use AI to revive his mother in order to find out her true feelings after she chose to die free.
