The popular detective drama "Aibou season 23" (TV Asahi, Wednesdays at 9pm) is collaborating with culture magazine "BRUTUS" (Magazine House) issue 1019, which goes on sale on November 1st. Mizutani Yutaka, who plays Sugishita Ukyo, and Terawaki Yasufumi, who plays Kameyama Kaoru, appear on the cover.
The issue, entitled "Which watch do you still want?", features an entire issue on "watches", the first in about 21 years. It introduces watches beloved by celebrities, watches that have supported great people, and topics about Japanese watchmakers that are garnering worldwide attention. In addition, under the theme "Aibou's partner," 11 cast members from "Aibou", including Mizutani and Terawaki, will appear as models wearing the latest watches.
Tajima Akira, editor-in-chief of "BRUTUS," commented, "'A watch is, after all, a 'partner'. It's not just a machine.' This phrase came up often when the production staff and I were discussing 'Why buy a watch in this age of smartphones' as we were creating the feature. At the same time, a new season of that hugely popular drama was announced on TV. That's it, wouldn't it be so cool if the characters in 'Aibou' wore 'Aibou'?! (Sorry for the difficult-to-understand Japanese). That was the moment the 'Aibou's Partner' project was born. We made the offer hesitantly, not expecting it to work, but we are truly grateful to the cast and staff of 'Aibou' and the TV Asahi publicity department for readily accepting despite their busy schedules with filming."
