It has been announced that the TV anime "I Was Banished from the Hero's Party Because They Said 'I Don't Think Someone Like You Can Defeat the Demon King,' So I Want to Live Freely in the Royal Capital," based on the light novel from GC Novels (Micro Magazine), will be broadcast on TOKYO MX and other channels from January 8, 2026.
A new key visual, the "Image Visual," has been released. It depicts Flam and Milkit walking hand in hand under a blue sky, accompanied by the line, "From now on, let's search together, for our happiness!" A "reverse version" with the background colors reversed was also released at the same time, and the line has been changed to a more meaningful nuance: "From now on, let's search together... for our happiness...". The visual hints at a story that will not be straightforward.
A promotional video was also released, depicting Flam and the other characters going about their daily lives. The second half of the video focuses on the interactions between the characters, with a focus on Flam and Milkit, and the ending theme "I need" by Yuki Tanaka was unveiled.
The special program "Don't Think You Can Promote a Show" will be streamed on YouTube from 6:00 PM on January 8, 2026, the day the show starts. It will feature Ayaka Nanase, who plays Flam, and Miku Ito, who plays Milkit. As the program's title suggests, promoting a show isn't easy... and the program will see Nanase and Ito take on various challenges.
The work is a light novel by Kiki, and is a dark fantasy about the protagonist, Flam, who, despite having zero ability, is chosen by a divine revelation to join the hero's party. However, he is betrayed by his companions and forcibly sold to a slave trader, but he uses the mysterious power he possesses - "reversal" - to turn his life around... The comic adaptation has also gained popularity.
