The variety show "Potsun to Ikkenya" (ABC TV/TV Asahi, Sundays at 7:54 PM) searches for isolated houses in remote areas using satellite photos as a guide. The June 14th episode will focus on the life of a family who has lived for four generations on the mountainside in Yamaguchi Prefecture, appreciating the richness of nature. The guests will be Yuko Ogura and KANO from the four-member girl group "@onefive".
Satellite images from the search team show a vast, cleared area with cultivated fields and two buildings. However, it's surrounded by forest, making it seem completely isolated. Could anyone actually be living there?
Entering the mountain path, they came across several scattered houses. After questioning the residents, they learned that the building in the satellite image belonged to a two-family rice farming family. The single house they were looking for was at the end of the mountain path, so the search team continued further into the mountains from the settlement. After traversing the seemingly endless, deep forest path, they arrived at a vast landscape of terraced rice fields.
We were greeted by a 75-year-old man. Currently, the house is inhabited by his son and his wife, both in their 40s and working as gardeners, and their eldest son (17). The eldest son loves fishing and his eyes light up as he says, "I'm aiming to become a professional fisherman!" While there are some inconveniences, they seem to be thoroughly enjoying their life in the mountains surrounded by nature. The eldest son's mother says, "We live in harmony with nature, growing seasonal vegetables with my mother-in-law and grandfather-in-law," and she cooks with vegetables and mountain herbs that her mother-in-law and eldest son have picked.
The trailer shows the search party's vehicle cautiously making its way across a stone bridge in the mountains, as well as the family heating water in a wood-fired bath and digging for bamboo shoots. It also features cooking scenes accompanied by the caption, "Food expenses: 0 yen!?"
