It has been announced that Naoya Uchida will be appearing as a voice actor in the anime " Baki-Dou, " based on the fourth part of Keisuke Itagaki 's fighting manga "Baki" series. Uchida will play the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi.
Uchida commented, "I have been given the important role of Miyamoto Musashi in Baki-Dou, the latest installment of my favorite anime series, Baki-Dou. I am very grateful to everyone involved for giving me the opportunity to bring out my potential even at my age. Having grown up playing sword fighting from a young age, it is an incredible joy for me to play the role of a legendary swordsman. I will work hard with Shimazaki (Nobunaga) and the other cast members to do my best in the role. I can only hope that fans of the Baki series will be more pleased and enjoy the role than ever before."
"Baki-Dou" is a manga serialized in "Weekly Shonen Champion" (Akita Shoten) from 2014 to 2018. The story follows the end of "the strongest father-son quarrel on earth," as Baki and other veteran fighters are overcome with unbearable boredom. Meanwhile, a plan to bring the master swordsman Miyamoto Musashi back to life in the present day, 364 meters below Tokyo Skytree, is underway. The story depicts a fierce battle between Baki and his friends and Miyamoto Musashi, who has been resurrected using cloning technology and spiritualism.
The "Baki" series is a fighting manga that depicts the battles between fighters such as underground arena champion Baki Hanma and Baki's father, Yujiro Hanma, who is known as "the strongest creature on earth." The first part, "Grappler Baki," began serialization in 1991 in "Weekly Shonen Champion." The latest installment in the series, "Baki Rahen," is currently being serialized in the same magazine. The series has sold over 85 million copies in total.
The anime "Baki" and "Baki Hanma" are currently streaming on Netflix. "Baki-Dou" will be produced by TMS Entertainment, the same company that produced "Baki" and "Baki Hanma." It will be exclusively distributed worldwide on Netflix in 2026.
