Actor Kamiki Ryunosuke attended the "TBS DRAMA COLLECTION 2024 AUTUMN" held in Tokyo on October 5th. Kamiki, who plays the lead role in the Sunday Theatre "Diamond Sleeping in the Sea" (Sunday 9pm) starting on the 20th, asked actor Sugisaki Hana, with whom he has co-starred for the seventh time, "Have I grown up?".
The drama is a story of love, friendship and family set in Hashima (Gunkanjima) in Nagasaki Prefecture, which developed through coal mining from the beginning of the Meiji era to the postwar high economic growth period, and in modern-day Tokyo. Kamiki plays the protagonist Teppei, who lives on Hashima in the 1950s, and Reo, a host who lives in modern-day Tokyo. This is the first time Kamiki has played two roles in a drama. Sugisaki plays Asako, the poster girl of Ginza Shokudo.
This is the seventh time they have co-starred, and Kamiki and Sugisaki, who meet regularly even during commercial shoots, call each other "Hana-sama" and "Kami-sama." Looking back on their first time working together, Sugisaki was in high school, and Kamiki asked, "Have I grown since then?"
Sugisaki said, "He's really kind, and sometimes I worry that he's being too considerate and getting tired, but he's someone who finds joy in doing things for others, and that wonderful thing about him hasn't changed at all since then."
The event on that day was a joint press conference for the new drama that will start on the same station this autumn. Also in attendance were co-stars in the drama, Saito Takumi and Tsuchiya Tao, Yagira Yuya, who stars in the drama series "Lion's Lair" (Friday 10pm, starts on the 11th), and Nao, who stars in the drama series "I Want to Punch That Kudzu" (Tuesday 10pm, starts on the 8th).
